Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services, advice and recommendations to governments, migrants, and community.

Over the years, IOM has expanded and affirmed its role as the leading Organization assisting the Government of Pakistan to ensure humane and orderly movement of people by devising practical solutions to shifting dynamics of migration, protecting, assisting, and supporting vulnerable migrant populations, promoting international cooperation on migration issues, and serving as a key source of advice on migration data, research, and policy development.

In the area of data, research and policy development, IOM has been specifically supporting Government of Pakistan in providing data and information, including expanding data collection (such as outflow of undocumented Afghan Migrants) and amplifying existing data collected by the Government. In continuation of the support, the needs for migration baseline data that will be aligned with and support the monitoring progress of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement has been identified. To address this, IOM will implement research activities by utilizing Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) tool under Regional Evidence for Migration Analysis and Policy (REMAP) project to collect, clean, organize, analyze, and store data, and disseminate information on broader area of human mobility that includes internal and international movement. This information will contain combination of text, symbol, chart, maps, and other visual components. To support mentioned efforts, IOM will need Data Visualization and Reporting Assistant to support information product development.

Under direct supervision of Project Officer (DTM REMAP), in close coordination with DTM REMAP Support Team and under overall supervision of Senior Project Manager, the Data Visualization and Reporting Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Analyze the data of different studies conducted by REMAP and present the data and information in a visual way that is clear and attractive for the audience.

Participate in the team information product discussions and contribute to ensure translation of data and information into visualization and information product (including report) according to the IOM Brand Guidelines.

In coordination with direct supervisor and other relevant colleagues, consolidate narrative of quantitative and qualitative data analysis to facilitate the preparation reports.

Support knowledge sharing and capacity building through input into formal or informal trainings on data visualization and related topics.

Keep abreast of and recommend tools, software, data visualization type, and design techniques to improve core visualization practices and expand information design services.

Support and enforce data confidentiality guidelines to protect sensitive data.

Perform any other duties as may be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION:

University degree in Visual Design, Communication, International Development, Public Relation, Mathematic or Statistic with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.

Additional studies or certified training in Visual and Communication Design is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, preferably in human mobility.

Experience in understanding and interpreting result of data analysis and/ or human mobility phenomena into visual information.

Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software is highly preferred.

Advanced experience using Statistical (e.g. Ms. Excel, SPSS, STATA) and Visualization software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, InDesign) is a plus.

Experience working in similar field with UN or International Organization, especially in area of human mobility is an advantage.

SKILLS:

Good command of English language skill, both in speaking and writing.

Ability to produce quality, accurate and concise information product according to set deadlines.

Ability to work independently, solve problems creatively and work under tight deadlines.

LANGUAGES:

Required:

Good command of English and fluency in Urdu (oral and written).

Desirable:

Working knowledge of other local languages in Pakistan (Pashto, Punjabi, Balochi, etc).
