Trainer/Ops Assistant

Job Description

 

Under the general supervision of the Chief of the Mission in Pakistan and under the direct supervision of the National Operations Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for carrying out CO courses and assisting in implementation of the VRAM project activities in Pakistan. In particular, he/she will:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct Cultural Orientation Courses to refugees bound for Australia in various locations as required.
  • Develop lesson plans in accordance with CO curriculum objectives.
  • Participate in and contribute to staff development seminars as needed.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of teaching materials supporting the objectives of the CO curriculum.
  • Submit CO statistics and/or reports on a weekly/monthly basis; Coordinate input from CO trainers and submit monthly report and statistics by required deadline.
  • Organize and provide information sessions for returnees under VRAM project from Germany.
  • Facilitate returnee selection and organize information dissemination to returnees.
  • Maintain call log and follow up with migrants for cases update and queries.
  • Provide informal interpretation / translation as needed.
  • Engage in self-directed study for professional development, including reading resettlement updates, language-tutorials, attending CO-related workshops or seminars, etc.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Science, Business Administration, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with Three years of relevant training experience

EXPERIENCE:

  • One year of teaching and/or training experience. US (or other Western country) living experience, an advantage.
  • Experience in working with refugees,
  • Experience in working in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Must be able to travel extensively. Must be willing to relocate if necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility and drive for results. Respect for diversity and creative thinking. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
  • Computer literacy.

  • English and Urdu
