Relevant Experience:

Minimum MBBS with valid PMC license; preferably MCPS/FCPS-I;

3-5 years of relevant experience and practical skills of job;

Job Description:
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a seasoned and competent Anesthetist for its Aga Khan Medical Centre, Singal (Gilgit Region).
This position is primarily responsible for administering appropriate anesthetic before, during or post-surgery and for the ongoing, and overall wellbeing of the patient throughout the operation. This position administers anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine and pain medicine.
Key Responsibilities

Assessing patient and deciding about Anesthesia options (i.e. general, regional or local) and pain management options after the surgery;

Administering the appropriate anesthetic;

Continuously monitoring vital signs including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration;
-
Controlling IV for intravenous fluids which control dehydration and allowing the administration of medications through the drip;
-
Ensuring the safety of the patient and taking appropriate steps to avoid any injuries to the patient’s body during the anesthetic period;
-
Managing any anesthetic complications;
-
Monitoring the level and depth of anesthesia; making adjustments as and when needed;
-
Performing blood transfusions when necessary;
-
Recognizing potentially life-threatening emergencies and perform timely interventions;
-
Discovery of any side effects, including pain, the patient may be experiencing so that treatment can be delivered;
-
Conduct inquiry about any awareness the patient may have undergone during the surgery;
-
Review of any complications related to the anesthesia that may have occurred;
-
Dealing with staff, patients and community members respectfully and honestly;
-
Remaining discreet about patient information and official related matters in public;
-
Conduct regular meetings with staff;
-
Providing advice on types or quantities of radiology equipment needed to maintain facilities;
-
Implementing protocols in areas such as drugs, resuscitation, emergencies, power failures, and infection control;
-
Evaluate the patient’s medical history to ensure tests will not cause harm;
-
Suggest alternative diagnostic techniques in case of allergy or any other issue;
-
Perform or direct radiology staff to perform a variety of diagnostic procedures, such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans and ultrasounds, to diagnose illnesses and injuries;
-
Communicate test results and their diagnosis to a patient’s primary physician through a written report. In some cases, the doctors also may confer verbally, either by phone or in person.

Liasion with Anesthesia department at Gilgit Medical Center to improve quality of service and scope of practice at Singal Medical Center.

Monitor and supervise methods of decreasing carbon emissions from anesthesia services as directed by Global AKDN policy
