Job Purpose:

To ensure that all operations in GSK Jamshoro do not create an adverse impact to the environment, and that the occupational health and safety of its' staff, neighbors, on-site visitors and on-site contractors is maintained at all times. To ensure that Jamshoro Site complies with all the relevant statutory legislation governing environment, health and safety issues, as set by regulating bodies such as the Sindh EPA Civil Defense, Factory Act 1934 etc. To ensure that Jamshoro site complies with all the relevant GSK global standards, directives and policies, as stipulated by GSK Corporate Environment, Health and Safety Department

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and communicate GSK EHS policies to all levels within GSK Jamshoro Site.
  • Adherence to GSK EHS Standards in compliance with local EHS laws and regulations.
  • Ensure EHS Risk assessment of all activities, operations, processes should be carried out as per GSK standards and put in place effective control measure to minimize EHS risks in accordance with local legislation and corporate standards.
  • Promoting a positive and transparent healthy and safety culture, based on GSK Values, where we can avoid accidents, illness and environmental impacts related to our activities.
  • Provide appropriate and relevant information, training and resources to all employees as it enables them to meet their EHS responsibilities, develop and implement EHS training plan which covers
  • Act as Process Safety champion for the site and support site on Process Safety related matters and implement Process Safety as per EHS Standard 5.13 Process Safety Management.
  • Responsible for Conduct Process Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (PHIRA) Study on the project life cycle.
  • Responsible for Conduct the HAZID, What-if analysis, HAZOP, Event tree Analysis, Fault tree analysis, SIL Assessment on site
  • Responsible for identifying Hazardous Area Classification zone at the site
  • Support site on implementation of Hazardous Area Classification & Control (HACC Study), Conducted gap analysis of electrical equipment as per GES 107 against HACC Study.
  • Support in the Permit to work implementation & responsible for adherence of Permit to work as per GES 113 Permit to Work.
  • Act as Machinery Safety champion for the site, Support the site on the machinery safety program as per GES 110 actively involved to support site on the Lockout tagout LOTO program
  • Responsible for the develop the emergency response plan & develop the emergency Response for foreseeable scenario at the site and ensure the sufficient emergency equipment available at the site, develop the Crisis Management Plan.
  • Support the site for Safety in workplace transport as per EHS Std5.12 Workplace transport
  • Support the site for the warehouse improvement as per Gsk warehouse improvement.
  • Responsible for the EHS investigation Reporting as per EHS Std.2.03 Investigation & reporting
  • Be actively part of Industrial Hygiene and EHAC program and support site where ever needed.
  • Be involved in engaging employees to inform them regarding EHS communications on site.
  • Facilitate and coordinate in GSK corporate, divisional and other EHS audits and visits.
  • Actively guide and support to reduce and comply with stringent environmental KPIs i.e., hazardous waste, usage of R-22 refrigerants, carbon footprint, water footprint, wastewater, halogenated VOCs emissions,
  • Guide and support to comply with local labor laws and environmental standards i.e., NEQS
  • Prepare and provide the environment, energy and waste related data for EHS central reporting.
  • Plan, supervise & ensure the implementation of wastewater testing in environment laboratory.
  • Management and supervision of environment laboratory.
  • Management of waste management area through integration of CHSE, financial and other requirements.
  • Coordinate and support to finance and warehouse in complying with the stock write offs.
  • Documentation of all waste materials to ensure they are auditable as per EHS central.
  • Ensure the compliance of CHSE target of zero waste to landfill through transportation and incineration of hazardous waste through an EPA approved contractor
  • On floor meetings and coaching with production team to improve compliance of EHS SOPs
  • Comply and ensure compliance to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Quality and other related policies, guidelines and requirements as applicable by law and GSK Corporate Guidelines.
  • Comply and ensure compliance to Environment, Health and Safety policies, guidelines and requirements as applicable by law and GSK Corporate Guidelines.
  • Any other responsibility assigned from time to time as per business requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelors of Environmental Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • 3-4 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the EHS management system, applicable EHS laws and regulations. Demonstrated supervisory and/or team building skills
  • Experience in pharmaceutical research or manufacturing or oil / chemical industry exposure where compliance to defined level of standards is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Professional certification in one or more EHS specialties (IOSH or NEBOSH) is strongly recommended
  • Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external
  • Command over MS Office - Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in line and matrix teams
