How can you make a difference?

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the IM Officer NOB, in close collaboration with the IM Specialist Health Section. This position is based in the Afghanistan Country Office in Kabul, Afghanistan, with frequent travel to the field. The Information Management Officer will support UNICEF Health section in the humanitarian as well as sector programs (as defined in annual rolling work plan) and will contribute to the provision of useful, valid and reliable information.

  • Maintain and further refine centralised digital field monitoring system that collates field monitoring observations collected via ODK platform and automated a visual analysis using business intelligent tools such as PowerBI Extenders/Field Monitoring Analysis.
  • Ensure consistency in disaggregated data collection and reporting for monthly situation updates, across zonal offices using data sources, such as the 4W database, and sector data collection Activities Mapping of UNICEF Health Sections.
  • Support in data quality and assurance for quantitative data generation for the health section. Data Analysis and Quality Assurance.
  • Produce clear and concise data visualization products (e.g. maps, dashboards, infographics) as required GPS coordinates collection of UNICEF supported HFs.
  • Respond to data visualization requests, including delivery of products to support reporting, advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Collaborate with zonal offices in producing sector and state specific information products. Partners Mapping.
  • Develop and maintain catalogues of IM and data products, including maps and assessments. Sharepoint Page.
  • Strengthen the capacity of program officers especially sector specific IM/M&E focal person in data visualization Building Capacity of Zonal Offices Health Staffs on IM products.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

  • A university degree in information management, computer sciences, social sciences, statistics, planning development, public health, or related field.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in programme development and implementation, including monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Experience in programming languages like Python, R, SQL, is required.
  • Strong excel skills, PowerBI and dashboards is required.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
