The role of Mechanical Designer at Adbled Engineering represents a tremendous opportunity to join a small & dedicated team of engineers & scientists, designing technically advanced automation & instrumentation that is widely recognised for both quality & production performance.

The successful candidate will be expected to embrace the opportunity for significant & rapid career development by accepting an increasing level of overall responsibility for product design & project management that would not necessarily be available within a larger organisation.

In addition to complex & challenging design work from concept through to medium volume manufacture, it will be expected that the standard drawing office requirements for build standard control & change note implementation are undertaken.

This is a contract position and it will last only 1 year.

Solidworks and relevent package will be considered.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a sound & comprehensive knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, therefore at interview will be required to answer a number of simple questions designed to test their knowledge of the basics, their aptitude for design & their ability to problem solve.

In particular, we are looking for an 'engineer’ - an individual who has a natural feel for their chosen profession - not just someone who can use a CAD package. We are looking for a person who is able to talk the 'language of engineering’ & who will feel comfortable having a technical conversation with other engineers across different disciplines & be able to convey their ideas concisely & coherently.

As well as being an excellent engineer, we require someone who will be a 'self-starter’ - a person who has the initiative and determination to get a design project underway without the need for close supervision and direction.

At Adbled Engineering, our technical staff: scientists, software, electronics & mechanical engineers, all work closely together to produce innovative & cutting-edge scientific machines

& instrumentation for our customers around the world; however no design can be manufactured & supported without the necessary technical documentation, so it is essential that any prospective candidate can show evidence of having produced component & assembly drawings to a recognised standard.

Producing & reading standard engineering drawings is fundamental to mechanical engineering - it is the common language that engineers use to convert their designs into reality, so as part of the interview process, prospective candidates will be asked to interpret engineering drawings for some of our existing products.

Mechanical engineering design requires enormous attention to detail: tolerances, safety factors, component specifications, materials selection, testing, build standard control; it also requires knowledge of components, suppliers & processes - we are looking for someone with an understanding & appreciation of the importance of all those areas. Attentation to details at assembly and component level is highly required. Must be able to convert ideas into 3d Cad design swiftly.

Machine design experience would be benificial.
