Introduction
Services of United Nations Volunteer - UNV (Civil Engineer) is required for supervision of Construction, Repair, refurbishment, reconstruction and civil works of GLOF throughout Pakistan. The United Nations Volunteer - UNV (Civil Engineer) will be responsible for monitoring and quality assurance of the ongoing works being/to be undertaken by the different contractors at project intervention areas. The United Nations Volunteer - UNV (Civil Engineer) also will be engaged to develop Bill of Quantity, Drawings and Specification according UNDP Rules and Regulations and to monitor and supervise the civil works activities to be implemented by Government Executing Agencies.
Objectives of the Assignment
The United Nations Volunteer - UNV (Civil Engineer) will be responsible for supervision and monitoring of activities related to refurbishment, Construction, Repair, reconstruction and civil works. The United Nations Volunteer - UNV (Civil Engineer) will provide timely feedback of civil works activities and will assist UNDP in quality assurance and timely completion of the works.
Scope of Work:
The United Nations Volunteer - UNV (Civil Engineer) under direct supervision of Provincial Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:
a. Supervision and monitoring of Construction, Repair, refurbishment, reconstruction and civil works.
b. Ensure quality of on-going works activities at sites as per best engineering practices.
c. Make sure the contractors follow working plan.
d. Conduct visits to provide technical inputs to the selected construction firms and Implementing Partner to ensure quality and timely delivery according to approved specifications and work plan;
e. Review bar bending schedule for on-going works and verify and submit the same to UNDP Project Office.
f. Recommend course corrections for quality of work to be completed within agreed time.
g. Share Site inspection report on prescribe formats with UNDP
h. Provide support in effective management of the project including progress monitoring and reporting, technical inspections, documentation of design change and variations in drawings and BOQs for approvals in accordance to Government Rates and Open market rates.
i. Close coordination with GLOF-II Project team on Construction, Repair, refurbishment and reconstruction works to avoid publication of activities.
j. Ensure that ‘Material Source Qualification Approval Tests’ are done by contractors.
k. Final completion report of the work.
l. Maintain photos of sites at various level of execution i.e. before the work start, during execution of work and after the work completed.
m. Ensure that DRR and environmental concerns are addressed while rehabilitating works.
n. Assists in quality implementation and monitoring of technical engineering and construction matters in accordance with the terms of contractors’ contracts, bills of quantities, technical specifications and project documents.
o. Developing and properly maintaining change order form with the prior approval of Procurement Unit and Country office.
p. Facilitate the Community involvement and ownership in project activities
q. Any other relevant task assigned by the Head of Office, Peshawar KP. Gilgit,
