Purpose of the Post: This position will be part of the Risk Assessment and Decision Support (RADS) – M&E team for the Polio Eradication programme in Pakistan. Working at the National Emergency Operations Centre, this position will provide analytical support to analyze risk, track progress and outcomes of interventions to guide M&E strategy and programmatic decisions.

Overview of the Programme: The continued transmission of poliovirus in Pakistan is a national emergency. Pakistan is one of two (with Afghanistan) last remaining reservoir of endemic poliovirus transmission in the World. Recently the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) Programme has made tremendous progress by reaching and vaccinating persistently missed children and detecting and responding rapidly to the presence of the poliovirus whenever and wherever it is identified. The programme aims to achieve cessation of transmission of Poliovirus from Pakistan by the end of year 2023 through routine and supplementary immunization and high-quality AFP surveillance system. In addition, to reduce morbidity of other EPI target diseases.

Organizational Context: Under the guidance of the M&E coordinator and support from the RADS Unit lead, the incumbent will provide technical support through comprehensive analysis of programmatic data available including surveillance, supplementary immunization activities, routine immunization, communication and high risk and mobile population data. • At least 2 years’ experience in working on health-related data e.g. in Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Polio Eradication activities, Health Emergencies etc.
• Experience in conducting comprehensive analysis of programmatic data available - surveillance, HRMP, SIA monitoring data, routine immunization, communication and data on high risk and mobile population in Polio or other communicable diseases such as measles etc.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Biostatistics and Analytics, or an advanced degree in epidemiology
• Strong analytic skills, including experience using statistical and database software packages.
• Expert knowledge of SAS, R, STATA, Python or other software to perform data extraction and statistical analysis
• Strong capacity in using GIS tools e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS
• Fluency in English and another UN language. Knowledge of local working language.
