1 RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY
Must be thoroughly familiar with all Mövenpick corporate and local Operational Standards and ensure they are followed. He/she must accomplish responsibilities and goals as outlined below:
§ Organisation of engineering administration.
§ Preventive Maintenance & Repair
§ Co-ordination with corp. Engineering MHR.
§ Handling and management and sufficient storing of spare parts.
§ Safety & Fire
§ The following responsibilities within the frame of work:
All technical installation on hotel plant, sewage sys- tem, fresh water / desalination plant, emergency gen- erator, air condition system, irrigation systems, car
work shop, technical building, laundry & kitchen equipment, cooling systems, swimming pools, hotel
lightening, in-house music & TV system, plumbing, carpentry, painting, paging system, telephone sys- tem, transportation (cars, busses).
Internal:
Work in harmony with staff and Department Heads.
External:
Area Chief Engineer, suppliers and contractors, Owning Company.
Materials:
All machinery, technical installations, plants, assets.
More detailed duties and responsibilities are listed attached in form of a checklist and are not meant to be complete. Local legislation and requirements may ask for adaptation and amendments. To fulfil the duties the jobholder is given the relevant authority to reach the goals by the General Manager of the Hotel operation
n) Is aware of and informs about all agreements
1.1 REPAIR & MAINTENANCE
a) For all work executed, by own or external crafts- men, on the building, plants or technical installa- tions he/she takes the responsibility.
b) For emerging problems of bigger issue he/she con- sults a specialist, discusses the problem with the GM and records the taken decisions or procedures.
c) Implements all necessary work procedures for pre- ventive maintenance, initiates respective scheduled procedures and monitors carrying out of work as well as recording the results within appropriate fil- ing system.
d) Accordingly provides the sufficient and reasonable supply of spare parts on time.
e) Determines for repair work the priorities and takes care for the quick removing of all breakdowns. Does not accept work which is not executed in a
competent manner. Passes invoices for payment on- ly when the execution of the work is done as pre-
liminarily agreed and to full satisfaction.
f) In case of disputes, involves the General Manager for a decision.
g) He/she is responsible for the storing of spare parts.
Registers all incoming and outgoing items.
h) Works out a concept of a yearly preventive mainte- nance program.
1.2 ADMINISTRATION
i) Establishes a monthly report of works carried out, machines maintained, special events, DYNA report, consumption of energy and water, etc. to the GM and the Area Chief Engineer MHR.

1.3 GENERAL / MISCELLANEOUS
o) Attends daily operational meetings
p) Ensures all staff is thoroughly familiar with the hotel’s emergency procedures and in a state
of preparedness for any emergency which may
occur.
q) Execution of regular technical/skills training.
Is responsible for setting up and maintaining ongoing training programs in the Engineering
division in conjunction with the Personnel &
Training Manager.
r) Initiates Fire Fighting Training in co- ordination with the Director of Security and the
local authorities (Fire Brigade) on a regular ba- sis for all Hotel departments.
s) Maintains a monthly overview of vacation- and public holiday balance of all his/her staff and
delivers a monthly consolidated summary to
the Personnel Manager.
t) Is familiar with all related company documen- tation and especially with the relevant Opera-
tional Standards Manual for his/her field of re-
sponsibility.
u) Other duties as assigned.
j) Controls and endorses all invoices for installations,
k) tools spare parts and consumption of material and
forwards them for payment to the accounting.
l) Initiates, executes and/or monitors training of
his /her staff for engineering matters.
m) Assists and co-ordinates together with the Director of
Security proper Fire & Safety training for all staff of the hotel.
n) Files and monitors all maintenance contracts and
consults/advises the GM when needed.
