Job Description

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the role holders will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:
The overall role of the Education Officer is to implement the education theme activities for Save the Children’s Neelum Valley Avalanche response in Azad Jammu Kashmir. The overall purpose is to coordinate for ongoing education projects with relevant department, partners’ staff and other project staff keeping the response coordinator in loop as well as to liaise with concerned government departments. Develop capacities of TLCs staff, Community and partners’ Education teams. The position holder will work closely with civil society partners, networks and government counterparts. Will be responsible for education theme progress and quality and budget spending etc.

The Education Officer will provide day to day supervision, guidance and on the job training for staff and NGO partners.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Responsible for implementation of the Education project activities.

Technically support the district based project TLCs staff, partners education teams on education project activities/ practices to promote quality learning at TLCS

Assessment of capacity building needs of field based education team

Ensure that technical guidelines are fully adhered on quality implementation.

Support in developing manual and materials corresponding to the needs

To ensure regular daily facilitation visit to project target schools.

To support teachers in classroom management, documentation and other indicators related to Project.

Develop liaison & Coordination with Education Department ADOs/Head Teacher for sharing implementation challenges.

Ensure the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective Education programme and project design, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation, including gender disaggregation; provide support for sharing the information with relevant partners and stakeholders.

Ensure 100% enrolment in project TLCs/school through Community mobilization.

Mobilize community through corner meetings and broad base community meetings.

Conduct /Facilitate Monthly Meeting of SMCs/PTC in target schools.

Take snap shot of field activities & ensure proper record keeping of program activities.

Submission of weekly, monthly and quarterly report to Project Manager.

Developing monthly work plan based on priority challenges/issues.

Monthly data collection on students’ progress.

Timely generate and disseminate new knowledge with the relevant counterparts, other sections in the office and apply it for program planning and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS

A University Degree in education, psychology, sociology or other social science field is required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in social development and management in education and related areas at the international and/or in a developing country is required.

Relevant experience in education and related areas, program/project management in an INGO is an asset.

Preference will be given to local candidate
