What is Manager Economic Affairs & Tax Advocacy?

A Manager Economic Affairs & Tax Advocacy is the one who has a strong interest in, and enthusiasm for, politics, policy issues and current affairs. They should be able to assimilate, analyze and summarize written material quickly. Someone who has excellent communication skills and can advocate the Economic policy division in terms of what is right—with professionalism, maturity, and a balanced, holistic view of any competing viewpoints

The role reports directly to the Stream Head Economic Affairs & Tax Advocacy with an extended team of 22 team members

What does Manager Economic Affairs & Tax Advocacy do?

Proactively engage on matters related to fiscal and taxation issues. Work with cross functional teams and other departments within the organization and help business team in effectively achieving their objectives.

Develop partnerships with relevant stakeholders, especially on E-Government initiatives

Work closely with Federal Board of Revenue, State bank, Ministry of Finance to take up Taxation matters

Work on sectoral issues with industry bodies such as FPCCI

Engage with Corporate & Regulatory team to understand the strategy of the function in line with CEO strategy and company road map

Develop a strategic plan to design and deliver comprehensive advocacy on matters of economic and public affairs significance to the business. This will include obtaining and verifying information, and then turning that in to meaningful advocacy to grow the business

Manage the advocacy database for the company, and keep it updated for instant dissemination and communication, both internally and externally. This will include assisting with research and drafting of proposals for submissions to government consultations and for selecting committee inquiries.

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Manager Economic Affairs & Tax Advocacy?

Drafting strategies for tax relief, duties and levies as well as closure of outstanding issues of the organization.

Experience in advocacy, campaign development, public engagement.

Experience of engaging with internal and external officials and representatives

Advocacy of Economic Policies

The ability to build strong relationships with External Teams such as Federal Boards of Revenue, State Bank of Pakistan, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce and Planning Commission of Pakistan amongst others.

The ability to build strong relationships with Internal Teams: Taxation, Legal, Commercial, Finance, Business to Business and DFS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills

An understanding of external communications and media to create messaging for maximum impact

Technically the individual should have sound MS Office skills.

Establish Jazz’s profile and name identification with policymakers, including federal and provincial governments, non-profits, international donors and development agencies.
