Established in 1951, and operational in Pakistan since 1981, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Under the framework of Global Action to Prevent and Address Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants (2018-2022), a joint initiative funded by the EU and implemented by UNODC, IOM is leading on outcome 5 of the intervention on the protection and assistance to vulnerable migrants, including victims of trafficking and smuggling, especially children. The project activities focus on provision of technical assistance for Government authorities and civil society organizations (CSO), small grants to CSOs for the direct provision of assistance and reintegration services to victims of trafficking and smuggling, and building of cooperation mechanisms between authorities and civil society actors for identification, referral, and assistance to vulnerable migrants.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, IOM Pakistan, the direct supervision of the Migration Management Project Coordinator and in close coordination with the Senior Programme Manager, the Project Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Support the implementation, monitoring and reporting of all activities under GLO.ACT, in compliance with donor’s administrative, legal and procedural requirements
• Maintain coordination with all project partners including government stakeholders and CSOs for effective implementation of project activities
• Organize technical meetings to establish a referral mechanism for provision of assistance to vulnerable migrants in coordination with project partners
• Coordinate with civil society organizations implementing a small grant for direct provision of assistance to vulnerable migrants
• Review training materials developed for capacity building component of the project to ensure it aligns with the project requirements and intended purpose
• Coordinate all administrative and logistical support for implementation of the project activities, including meetings, conferences, seminars and capacity building / training workshops.
• Prepare and compile information, reports, notes for file regarding all project activities and coordination meetings with government stakeholders and other concerned organizations in Pakistan.
• Support project development initiatives, including collection of information for concept notes and input for budgets preparation
• Keep the supervisor informed of any legislation/policy mechanisms update relevant to the project
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION:

Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Project Management, Social Sciences, Migration studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE:

• At least two years of relevant experience in UN Agencies or international/national NGO and/or government programme.
• Experience in working with civil society organization and implementation of small-grants.
• Experience of organizing capacity building initiatives for the Government of Pakistan departments
• Experience in drafting meeting notes, reports, concept notes and project budgets.
• Experience of working in humanitarian situations highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, publisher, excel and power point).

LANGUAGES:

Required

• English and Urdu (Fluent)

Advantageous

• Working knowledge of other Regional Languages would be desirable (Pashto, Punjabi, Balochi etc.)
